ChlorideSodium Chloride spring

A sodium-led chloride spring, weakly alkaline at the wellhead (pH 7.9) and pH 8.06 in the lab — soft on the skin and squarely in the Japanese beauty-water family. It carries 76.4 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, leaving the kind of thin silica film that makes skin feel smoother. At 31.2 °C it is a cold-mineral/low-temperature source, reheated for bathing.

Salt forms a film on the skin that slows heat loss, so the warmth lingers long after the bath (the classic heat-keeping water, nettō 熱の湯).

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.
