Kuroshio Honjin sits on a hillside above the Pacific at Kure in Kochi's Nakatosa town. The place has two distinct bath styles: indoor spring water baths (two rooms, white granite and rust stone, swapping daily between men and women) and an open-air shioyu (汐湯, seawater bath) filled with heated water pumped up from the Pacific. The indoor spring water is smooth and slightly slippery on the skin; the outdoor seawater bath carries a faint saltiness and looks straight out over the ocean. A sauna and cold plunge sit in the outdoor area. Day-use visitors are welcome.
