Ottate Onsen Sumiyoshikan

Sumiyoshikan taps two separate springs, offering a greenish-brown murky indoor bath alongside a clear-water one, and a single rock-lined open-air rotenburo (露天風呂) in the garden that is mixed bathing, the kind shielded by maples rather than fences. The forest setting near Inawashiro is quiet and unspoiled, and the wooden inn retains the bones of a traditional hot-spring retreat. Currently closed for renovation with a planned reopening in early 2027.
