Sulfate
+ Chloride
A sodium-calcium sulfate-chloride spring — sulfate gives the water its quiet body, while chloride layers in a salty edge. Mineralization sits at a substantial 5,714 mg/kg, so the bath feels distinctly mineral-rich on the skin. Weakly alkaline and soft to the touch, and because the source emerges at only 28 °C the cold-mineral water is reheated for bathing.

A small onsen in the Toyama mountains with a magnificent view of the river and mountains. On the women's side there's no fence — on one side there are boards angled so they look like a fence from outside, but from inside you can see through the gaps and the view is barely obstructed. And from the front it's completely open, because across the river there's a mountain covered in wild, barely passable forest.
Located in the middle of nowhere, visitors are mostly locals, very cute and cozy, quite spacious for the number of people. There's a small restaurant with local cuisine too. Fully equipped, shampoo and towel rental available. Not too hot, very comfortable even in summer. Temperature is 42 degrees, perfectly comfortable for me — not scorching but warms you up nicely. Colorless and without a strong smell.
I didn't check this time, but before the pandemic they were tattoo-friendly — I went there with friends for whom that matters. But all the onsens in these mountains were tattoo-friendly back then.
