Tsubame Onsen Kogane no Yu

A free open-air bath in the national forest on the slopes of Mt. Myoko, about a ten-minute walk from the village of Tsubame Onsen. The spring is a sulfurous sodium-calcium bicarbonate and sulfate water, and it flows continuously without stopping, the bath stays clean through constant overflow. No soap, no showers, minimal changing area. Autumn foliage is said to give the place its name: golden leaves drifting into the water. Note: the bath has now been separated into male and female sections.
