Olu' ka Hale FOREST is a small cottage auberge in Shirahama where only one group stays at a time. The owners built it themselves, and that hands-on care shows throughout. There is an outdoor bath and a private indoor bath, though neither uses natural hot spring water: the outdoor bath is filled with Epsom salt water. A footbath in the garden doubles as a spot for barbecue. Dinner is a charcoal and teppan course using Wakayama ingredients, with wine pairings available. The rooftop balcony looks out over the Pacific, good for sunsets and clear nights.
