Ikime onsen

118. Ikime onsen, Beppu A true old-school onsen. 100 yen in the box. No body wash/shampoo, staff, or shower. Listed in the onsen-do but no stamp (!): couldn't find one myself, and an old man confirmed there isn't one. The bath has clear, slightly cloudy water with white mineral deposits, temperature hot-, but it had been heavily diluted with cold water before I arrived. Faint sulfurous smell. Breathing is comfortable.
