Tenryo-no-yu

Absolutely incredible, loved it! Surprisingly empty on a weekday. Their higaeri system is a bit confusing — the times change depending on the day, and the onsen itself rotates between what I think are two different ones in the hotel. The photos are from the one on the first floor. Two outdoor baths: one large one in rocks, and a round one with a jacuzzi. Both have a garden view. Also two large indoor baths (one with a jacuzzi), also with a gorgeous garden view. The changing room is spacious, with a comfortable mirror area to get ready. I liked the Esthe Royer shampoo/shower gel/lotion — lots of options. Entry 1500 yen, includes a small towel; bath towel rental 500 yen. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from Takayama Station.
