湯の里1号、湯の里2号、湯の里3号及び湯の里4号の混合泉Yunosato No.1-4 Blended Spring

ChlorideSodium Chloride spring

A blend of four wells — Yunosato No.1 through No.4 — sampled from the mixing tank and piped to the main hall, wooden tubs and sand-rinse baths of the Genroku bathhouse. It is a sodium chloride spring, hypotonic and neutral, moderately mineralized at 4,345 mg/kg with a faint salt tang on the lips. The standout figure is metasilicic acid at 211.6 mg/kg — silica in that range leaves a thin moisturizing film and puts the water squarely in Japan's beauty-water family.

Salt forms a film on the skin that slows heat loss, so the warmth lingers long after the bath (the classic heat-keeping water, nettō 熱の湯).

うたせの湯Utase no Yu Spring

ChlorideSodium Chloride spring

The source poured through the cascading utase bath in the Genroku bathhouse: a sodium chloride spring, hypertonic and neutral. At 13,320 mg/kg of dissolved solids it is richly mineralized — heat-retaining, and it leaves a distinct mineral film on the skin. Colorless and clear at the wellhead, it tastes salty with a metallic edge and carries an iron note in the nose, clouding to a faint brown within a day of sampling. A generous 130.6 mg/kg of metasilicic acid keeps the feel smooth despite the salinity.

風穴の湯Fuketsu no Yu Spring

SimpleSodium-Calcium Chloride spring

The source that feeds the open-air bath of the Genroku bathhouse, classified as a simple thermal spring — hypotonic and neutral, and gentle on the body at just 937 mg/kg of dissolved solids. What lifts it above plain water is metasilicic acid at 108.6 mg/kg, enough to leave the thin silica film that puts it in Japan's beauty-water family. Colorless and clear at the wellhead with the faintest metallic taste, it takes on a pale yellow tint within a day of sampling.
