About
Reisen Motoyu (霊泉元湯) is a no-frills communal bath tucked into a back alley a short walk from Bandai-Atami Station. The bathing style here revolves around two tubs: a cool, almost cold spring pool and a properly hot one. The idea is to loop between them, warming up in the hot bath then plunging into the cool spring and back again. The building is old and unmistakably Showa-era in feel, kept clean by the people who run it. Soap and shampoo are not provided, so bring your own.
