MountainsThe indoor bath here is treated with komyoseki, a mineral stone mined in Okayama, rather than piped from a natural hot spring source. The bath itself isn't large, but the windows are, looking out over where the Aotaki and Mitaki mountain streams meet below the lodge. This is a kokuminshukusha (国民宿舎), a plain public lodge with tatami guest rooms. Bath and toilet facilities are shared down the hall, though the toilets themselves are newer washlet units. The view from the rooms changes with the season: cherry blossoms in spring, a snow-capped Mt. Gozaisho in winter. Reviewers describe an old building kept clean and quiet, with generous meals and kind staff. Day visitors can bathe and have lunch without staying the night.

436. Kokuminshukusha Yunoyama Lodge We went for a higaeri. Higaeri is listed as ¥500-600 from 11:00 to 14:00 (except Tue-Thu). At the time of our visit, it was included in the Yunoyama stamp-rally for January-March 2025. There is one indoor bath with clear water, temperature 42. The air inside is easy to breathe. Outside of achievements, you can skip it. 17.01.2025
