357. Kobe Minato Onsen Ren Modern super sento with onsen water for 2300-2700 yen, 20 minutes from Kobe Station, part of a hotel complex. The waterfront promenade with a view of Kobe Tower is nearby — especially nice in the evening. The entrance to the public onsen is slightly to the right of the hotel entrance. Operating hours listed as 06:00 to 24:00. They issue Toreco cards for this onsen, but the public onsen reception couldn't find mine (or didn't want to) — the cards might be available in the hotel section. There's a restaurant, massage, shop, and fitness center. There's a stone bath. Bath photos partially match — due to the unusual camera angle the impression is slightly distorted, and the waterfall wasn't running when I visited, but overall it looks like that. The place is clean, ready to handle high traffic, but a bit soulless I'd say. The staff also feels like part-timers, though without any specific complaints. You can find info about a rooftop onsen, but it's only accessible for hotel guests. 1. Outdoor zone. The main feature is a large stone rotenburo without a view. There's a nuance with the view: looking at the rotenburo from the outside it looks amazing, but when you're sitting in it looking out, the building facade awkwardly ruins the picture. 1.1. Multi-level stone bath. Based on the design and photos, the upper level should have a small waterfall, but it wasn't running when I was there (maybe because of the late hour). Clear water. Upper level temperature around 41-42, second and first levels around 40-41. On the first level there's a lying-down zone off to the side. 1.2. Zone with water straight from the source as noted on the sign. Clear brown water, temperature around 40. 1.3. Shallow walking bath. 2. Indoor zone. Breathing is comfortable. 2.1. Bath with clear water, temperature around 40. 2.2. Carbonated bath, temperature around 38. 2.3. Herbal bath (bags of some herb), temperature around 40. 2.4. Sauna. 2.5. Cold bath. Although the place feels a bit soulless and is expensive, the rotenburo is nice, the location is good, and the waterfront promenade has great views. Worth considering when visiting Kobe, but not as a top priority. I'd recommend going in the evening (without daylight).
