About

Inamoto is a traditional ryokan in Echigo-Yuzawa, a hot spring town whose history the inn traces back some 800 years. The third-floor open-air bath looks out at Mt. Iishi (飯士山) and the surrounding mountains, with the spring water kept flowing fresh, kakenagashi (源泉かけ流し) style. A separate ground-floor communal bath, fed the same way, adds a sauna and a cold plunge. A barrier-free private bath can be booked for those who want the onsen to themselves, and a few guest rooms have their own onsen tub. The water itself is mild and weakly alkaline, known locally as bijin-no-yu (美人の湯), the 'beauty-skin spring', said to leave the skin smooth. A free foot bath by the entrance is open to anyone passing through, closed in winter.
