燕温泉 惣滝の湯つばめおんせん そうだきのゆ
Uses natural hot spring water
Shared bathing area for all genders
A wild bath (noyu, 野湯) reached by a hiking trail from Tsubame Onsen village, tucked at the base of a waterfall on the slopes of Mount Myoko. The water is a milky white sulfur spring, and the route up passes outcroppings crusted with mineral deposits and the faint smell of sulfur, part of the appeal before you even arrive. The trail takes around an hour to an hour and a half, and the bath itself is mixed (konyoku, 混浴). Closed in winter.
