Relaxation space for after bathing
A small day-use onsen tucked in the hills above Atami, by the Miyagawa river. There is just one indoor bath and one outdoor bath, plain and unfussy, with the river and birdsong right outside. The real draw is the koso-buro, a warm bed of fermented rice bran and sawdust where you lie neck-deep in a rental suit; it is mixed-gender and unlike anything else in a regular bathhouse. Afterwards there is a small hinoki-wood rest area by the water with light food and drinks. It is a modest, easy-to-miss place, more like a local retreat than a tourist stop.
