Tamuraya Ryokan (田村屋旅館) opened in 1886 in the Numajiri mountains of Fukushima and permanently closed in 2024 following bankruptcy proceedings. It had a connected indoor bath and an outdoor rotenburo, both fed by a strongly sulfurous spring whose water turned milky white in the tub. The building carried the unhurried, weathered feel of a rural Showa-era inn, and the location near a mountain hiking trailhead gave it a following among bathers who valued the spring quality above all else.
