Shirakawa Ya

Shirakawaya sits in Matsunoyama Onsen (松之山温泉), one of Japan's three great medicinal hot springs (sanidai yakuyu, 三大薬湯). The bathing lineup includes indoor baths and two open-air baths, with the signature being the "oppai-yu" (おっぱい風呂), where water pours from a distinctive breast-shaped spout over bathers. The water is intensely salty with a sharp, distinctive smell that regulars find hard to forget. The two bath areas are gender-separated and rotate each morning.
