Shiratama no yu Senkei is a large ryokan in Tsukioka Onsen with its own drilled sulfur spring. The two bathhouses, Tsukikagami (月鏡) and the recently renovated Hanakagami (花鏡), each pair an indoor bath with an outdoor one, but only the outdoor baths draw on the spring itself: the water runs an emerald green, carries a clear sulfur smell, and feels smooth on the skin. Both bathhouses also have an auto-loyly sauna, and the post-bath rest area has free drinks and ice cream. Two reservable private open-air baths, Tsubaki-no-yu (椿の湯) and Sakura-no-yu (桜の湯), use the same source for guests who want the water to themselves. It's a sizable, well-kept inn with rooms ranging from plain Japanese-style to suites with a private open-air bath. Reviews consistently mention attentive staff and family-friendly touches like children's yukata.
