Kosuge-no-Yu (小菅の湯) sits in a mountain village at the headwaters of the Tama River, about two hours from central Tokyo. The facility has nine baths, ranging from a large indoor bath and open-air rotenburo to a Goemon-buro (五右衛門風呂, a round iron-kettle style tub), a reclining bath, a waterfall shower bath (utaseyu, 打湯), a sauna, and a private outdoor bath that fits up to eight people. The water is clear and leaves the skin noticeably smooth. Inside, there are several rest rooms with hammocks, manga, and nap spaces, plus a restaurant serving local mountain produce.
