About

Nasteview Yunoyama (ナステビュウ 湯の山, Nasutebyu Yunoyama) draws from the same Matsunoyama spring long listed among Japan's three great medicinal hot springs (Nihon sandai yakuto, 日本三大薬湯). The water has a noticeable petroleum-like scent and a faintly salty feel on the skin, both of which regulars find hard to pass up. The open-air baths sit on higher ground and take in a quiet mountain view. Indoors, the bath is split into a hotter pool and a gentler warm one. There is also a sauna, a cold bath, a restaurant, and rest areas with places to lie down.

The water — it's like bathing in Vishnevsky ointment. You feel everything being healed at once. Hard to describe the smell, but everyone knows it. The rotenburo has a view into the distance toward a snowy cliff. In the evening they light a torch by the rotenburo!! The sauna and cold bath (mizuburo) are modest but available. In the sauna they do herbal steaming sessions at 16:00 and 18:00 on weekends.
