Uses natural hot spring water
Enclosed indoor bathing area
Several named baths (herb, relax, esthetic, reclining) besides the explicitly outdoor 露天風呂, implying an indoor bath hall.
Allows entry with visible tattoos
On-site or nearby parking available
A 道の駅 (roadside station) is legally required to provide a free rest/parking area as one of its three core functions.
Sun Olive Onsen, the day-use bath house at Shodoshima Olive Park, has an open-air bath, a walking bath, a herb bath, a reclining bath, and a waterfall-style utaseyu, plus a steam sauna, a far-infrared sauna, and a cold bath. The water is clear and colorless. From the baths you can look out over the olive groves and the Seto Inland Sea. The bath house sits inside a michi-no-eki (道の駅), a roadside rest stop built around a Mediterranean theme: a Greek-style windmill, olive orchards, a small olive museum, and a restaurant serving Shodoshima specialties.
