About

Kouwanoyu is a day-use bathhouse in Osaka's Taisho-ku, on an ordinary residential street away from downtown. The onsen water here isn't limited to the tubs: even the cold plunge and the wash-area taps run off the same pumped spring water. Outdoors there are three tubs at different heat levels, including a small tsubo-yu (壺湯) pot bath, and indoors a plain hot-water vibra bath called shirayu (白湯). The tower sauna lets off a burst of steam automatically on the hour, and a separate, gentler steam sauna sits alongside it; both are followed by a cold plunge filtered through bincho-charcoal (備長炭). There's also a jet-massage bath and an attached izakaya-style restaurant. It draws a steady crowd of neighborhood regulars, especially on weekday mornings, and the main bath is shallow enough for kids to join in.

317. Kouwanoyu, Osaka Super sento with natural hot spring water, 30 minutes from Osaka station for 800. Operating hours listed as 10:00-00:30. They stamp the 41 Kansai Super Sento stamp rally 24/25. Has a restaurant, massage, massage chairs, and barber shop. Cool diagram showing the water source at the entrance. 1. Outdoor area. 1.1. Bath with clear water, temperature around 42. 1.2. Bath with clear water, temperature around 38-39. 1.3. Two barrel baths. 2. Indoor area. 2.1. Bath with light green water, temperature around 40. 2.2. Nine different jet baths, temperature around 40. 2.3. Sauna. 2.4. Steam bath. 2.5. Cold bath. A fairly average place — nothing particularly hooked me, but nothing negative to say either.
