Kibō-sō

438. Kibo-so, Yunoyama Onsen Visited for higaeri (listed as 11:00 to 21:00, 600 yen). There are two entrances, and one of the reception desks is on the mountain. From that reception you ride a funicular to the onsen building, and the view from it is incredible — Nagoya spreading out in an LA-like panorama. At the time of our visit it was part of the Yunoyama stamp rally January-March 2025. Bath photos from the internet are partially accurate — adjusted for daytime lighting. Sample photo of the city view is from the funicular — the view from the bath looks very similar (except for a thin twig fence in the onsen). Sign photo is from the internet. Outdoor stone bath with an amazing city view. There's a fence of horizontal twigs for safety. They're thin and the view doesn't suffer much. Water is clear, temperature 40. Indoor bath with clear water, temperature 41. The air is comfortable. There's a steam sauna. An excellent higaeri evening option when visiting Yunoyama Onsen. Magnificent and unique onsen view for the area.
