A hot (73 °C) sodium bicarbonate-chloride spring with a salt-tinged finish. Neutral at the wellhead (pH 7.0), it carries the unmistakable rotten-egg note of H₂S layered with a faint iron-rust edge and a touch of mineral taste. Bicarbonate softness meets chloride heat retention, and a generous 131 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that keeps skin feeling smooth.

Smooth skin

Bicarbonate and alkalinity gently lift dead keratin while silica hydrates, leaving skin smooth. This is the basis of the beautifying-water (bijin-no-yu 美人の湯) reputation.

Warmth eases stiffness and raises the pain threshold. Radon and sulfate springs show the strongest evidence for joint and muscle pain.
