Jinya has been running since 1918 on a sprawling estate of 10,000 tsubo (about 3.3 hectares) in Tsurumaki Onsen (鶴巻温泉), Kanagawa. Every one of the 16 guest rooms has its own kakenagashi (掛け流し, free-flowing) open-air bath fed directly from the spring. There are also shared indoor and outdoor baths, two bookable private rotenburo (露天風呂) called Yamazakura (山桜) and Yamafuji (山藤), and a sauna that opened in autumn 2025. The grounds are well known for a long-standing connection to professional shogi (将棋) tournaments and for a large old camphor that guests call the Totoro Tree, after the film by Hayao Miyazaki, who spent part of his childhood here.
