Nanatsuishi Onsen

73. Nanatsushi Onsen, Beppu True old-school onsen. But it stands out with an interesting entrance area and a shrine nearby. You can clearly see it was made with care. It's not in the most convenient location, and there's no English name on Google Maps — I expected it to be completely underground, but it's actually a unique and interesting place. No staff — payment is 100 yen into a box. Stamp it yourself. Soap and towel available for purchase if in stock. Inside there's one oval bath, no shower. Clear water, temperature is fairly mild (between warm and hot). In the changing room there are some jokes hanging on the wall (added photos). Couldn't find a mineral composition sign, but photographed an information sheet about the onsen. Recommended for old-school fans for the authentic atmosphere of the place and the interesting entrance area.
