Hanayu Spa Resort

Hanayu Spa Resort is a day-use spa complex in Kumagaya that draws its own hot-spring source and runs the water straight through the baths instead of recycling it. The water comes out pale gold with a faint sulfur scent. It fills an indoor bathing hall and a garden-style outdoor area built around a small stream, with a big rock tub, a Shigaraki-ware (信楽焼) pot bath, a low reclining bath on a granite floor, and a fine-bubble silk bath. There's also a cold plunge fed by groundwater, a jet bath, an electric bath, and sauna rooms on each side: a very hot men's tower sauna, and on the women's side a regular sauna plus a coral-walled steam sauna. An eight-cave ganbanyoku (岩盤浴) hall, which the facility bills as one of the largest in the Kanto region, has recliners, thousands of manga and magazines, and free herbal tea. There are two restaurants: a Japanese menu built around Sanuki udon, and a Western cafe with pancakes, plus a phone-reserved private room with its own outdoor tsubo bath.
