Nasunogahara Onsen Hotel Aoki

Hotel Aoki is a small roadside ryokan on the Nasunogahara plain in Tochigi, built around its own hot spring. The water runs 100% kakenagashi, with no heating, filtering, or recirculation, and comes out smooth and silky on the skin, the kind of feel that keeps regulars soaking again and again. The indoor bath and open-air rotenburo are split by gender, and there's a cold bath, a jet bath, a sauna, and a spot where you can drink the spring water. Guests staying the night also get two private baths at no extra charge. The building itself is plain and a little worn, more roadside inn than resort, with simple Japanese and Western style rooms and a communal dining hall that doubles as a rest area. It's the kind of place where people from around Otawara come mainly for the water, not the view.
