KKR Yuzawa Yukiguni is a member lodge of Japan's National Public Service Personnel Mutual Aid Federation (the KKR in the name), a short uphill walk from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. The onsen bath is on the seventh floor, an open hall looking out over the Yuzawa mountains, with a sauna next to it. Dinner and breakfast come from the in-house restaurant, and Uonuma-grown Koshihikari rice is a regular on the menu. It's a laid-back, no-frills stay rather than a resort, popular enough in ski season that rooms fill up fast.
