About

The hotel's onsen, Urako-no-yu (浦子の湯), has a plain, roomy indoor bath and a small rotenburo where you catch a faint whiff of sulfur in the air. There's no view from the outdoor bath, but in winter the snow blows in while you soak, and the water itself is clear and gentle on the skin. The second half of its doubled name comes from でんき屋 (denkiya), an electrical-goods shop. It's a slightly worn, Showa-era ski hotel by the Iwappara and Kandachi Kogen slopes, the kind of place skiers duck into for a soak after a night run, and it also takes day-use bathers.
