Day Use

Yes
13:00–18:00

Weekday day-use bathing runs 13:00 to 18:00 (last entry 17:00); weekends and holidays are shorter, 13:00 to 16:00 (last entry 15:00), and each hour is booked as a separate reservation slot.

¥1,500

Adults (junior high and up) are 1,500 yen, elementary schoolers 1,000 yen, and infants 500 yen (free under 3). A bath towel rents for 500 yen; the small hand towel is sale only, at 220 yen.

Bathing & Water

Natural onsen water

Uses natural hot spring water

One 2026 review says the bath "doesn't feel much like an onsen" (温泉はあまり温泉感が無い) but still credits smooth skin afterward; kept the site's stated natural-onsen-kakenagashi claim as the stronger source.

Outdoor BathYes

Open-air outdoor bath

Indoor BathYes

Enclosed indoor bathing area

SaunaNo

Dry heat sauna room

A sauna room exists ([サウナ]男1女1) but facility.md marks it as currently out of service; a March 2026 Google review corroborates ("サウナも使用中止で残念"). Conflicting site pages: hot_spring.md counts zero saunas, page2.md counts one with no closure note.

Capabilities

Private BathYes

Private bath available for day-use visitors or hotel guests to reserve

Audience conflicts across site pages: hot_spring.md states it is limited to overnight guests (ご利用はご宿泊のお客様に限らせて頂きます), while the day-use page and a news post explicitly offer it to day-trippers for ¥2,200/45min. Price/hours also vary across pages (see gaps).

Room OnsenYes

Private onsen bath in guest rooms, for overnight guests only

Only in two special rooms (-竜胆の間- and 桜花爛漫 紅山桜の間), not standard rooms.

Mixed BathingNo

Shared bathing area for all genders

DiningYes

Bath towel (バスタオル) is rented for ¥500; the small hand towel (タオル) is sale-only at ¥220, not rented.

About

Takinoyu is a small family-run ryokan on a hillside above Echigo-Yuzawa's hot-spring town, a seven-minute walk from the station, with views over the rooftops to the mountains beyond. The indoor bath is filtered and recirculated, but the outdoor rotenburo draws straight from the source with nothing heated or added, and the water itself is clear with a faint sulfur smell and a smooth feel on the skin. There's also a reservable private bath finished in hinoki (檜) cypress, and two of the guest rooms have their own onsen tub built in. Day-trippers can pair a soak with lunch in the dining room, a combination the inn is known for locally. The okami has her own experience with wheelchair life, and it shows in the barrier-free room and public areas, with ramps, handrails, and a step-free tub built into the floor.
