Yugawara Onsen Izuya Ryokan

A small, old-fashioned wooden ryokan in Yugawara with an open-air stone bath that reviewers call co-ed. The outdoor bath is the main draw -- at night the sound of bell crickets drifts in, which gives it a particular atmosphere. The building is vintage, the service hit-or-miss by accounts, but the spring itself and the setting have real character.
