897. Sand SPA, Beppu ★★ Sand onsen for ¥2,500. A new modern facility was built on the site of the old sand onsen, and it turned out very well. The opening hours are listed as 08:00 to 22:00. They stamp the Onsendo Beppu stamp. The bath photos are from the internet, and they match. 1. Sand onsen. View of the bay. In the changing room, we change into yukata, and put our mobile phone into the transparent file they give us. We go out to the sand area and hand the transparent file with the phone to the staff. The staff buries you, sets up an umbrella, and takes photos. The sand session itself lasts about 15 minutes. It warms you up well. Then we go out, wash off the sand, and can use the indoor onsen with water. 2. Indoor bath. View of the bay through the window, and in the morning the sunlight reflecting off the water is very pleasant. The water is clear, and the temperature is 41. It is comfortable to breathe inside. Everything is very fresh, good, and pleasant. On a sunny day, the indoor bath is very cozy and appealing. A great place, recommended for a visit. 05.04.2026
