Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Hotel Amamiyakan It’s a hotel and capsule hotel, but I stopped by for a day-use bath during my lunch break, because it’s one of the few hotels in eastern Hakodate where day-use bathing is available all day, from 6:00 to 22:00. Admission is ¥800, a small towel rental is ¥100, and a large towel is ¥200. JAF members get a free drink. The washing area has shower water that seems to be onsen water, though you can’t choose the shower temperature, plus soap and shampoo. There are two hot baths, at 41° and 44°, and one mizuburo at 21°. There’s also a sauna, and it was close to 90 degrees inside. The photos online match what it looks like, though thermometers have since been added near the baths. The spring water is kakenagashi, clear, colorless, and odorless. It somehow feels a bit soapy, but there was no detailed information sheet about the water. A pleasant place, simple but clean, bright, and spacious, good for dropping in to wash up.

HOTEL AMAMIYAKAN keeps its bathing simple: one indoor hall with hot, salty spring water, a cypress-scented sauna where you pour your own steam, and a cold plunge to cool off in between. There's no rotenburo, but a hotter main tub feeds a milder overflow tub right next to it, so you can move between the two instead of getting in and out. It works as much as a neighborhood bath as a hotel amenity, day visitors and regulars from around Yunokawa Onsen use it too. It's a short walk from Hakodate Arena, and doubles as a stop for concertgoers and event crowds looking to soak off the day.
