A sodium-led bicarbonate spring with a chloride sub-type layered in — the classic jūsō-sen style, served hot at 57.4 °C from the wellhead. Weakly alkaline and soft on the skin, it sits squarely in Japan's beauty-water family. A generous 177 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves the kind of silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother, while a faint metallic taste and odor betray the trace iron carried up from depth.

703. Beppu Station Hotel, Beppu Stayed overnight, no day-use available. Does not include Onsen-do Beppu - does not stamp the 88 onsen pilgrimage book. Bath photo is from the internet, partially matches - visited in the evening. Onsen is available free for day-use when staying at other hotels in the Beppu Onsen Hotel Group from 16:00 to 00:00 and from 06:00 to 09:00. When staying at Beppu Station Hotel, mutual free day-use is available at hotels in this group. The Beppu Onsen Hotel Group includes: Sea Wave Hotel, Hotel Fujiyoshi, Hotel Hayashi, Hotel Sansenkaku, Seaside Hotel Mimatsu OOETEI, Seikaiso, Beppu Station Hotel, Business Hotel Star (no onsen of its own). A simple, cheap business hotel with service. Located near Beppu Station. Price is low but worth the money. The staff are Japanese and try hard with service for a business hotel level. Yukata robes are provided. The indoor bath is simple but quite pleasant, with several stained glass windows. The water is clear, temperature about 41.5°C. Comfortable to breathe inside. Even after several onsens in Beppu, it was still nice to sit in the hotel bath and I got a bit absorbed. Worth considering if you want to save as much as possible when choosing accommodation in Beppu. 27.12.2025
