Shin-Omaki Onsen Okabe

A farmhouse inn from 1925 in the Shogawa gorge, and it feels exactly like that, heavy beams, folk art on the walls, a sense of time standing still. Guests have reportedly encountered zashiki-warashi (座敷童子, the child spirit of old Japanese houses), which tells you something about the atmosphere of the place. The gorge scenery outside is something else entirely.
