Suisensou is a small, family-run minshuku in Fukuji Onsen, a quiet hot-spring hamlet in Okuhida, up in the Gifu mountains. Baths are split by gender, one indoor and one rock-built outdoor bath on each side; the outdoor bath looks out over the surrounding mountains with a stream running nearby. The spring water is kept flowing fresh rather than recirculated. When only a couple of parties are staying, the two sides are sometimes used in a private, take-turns rotation instead of the usual gender split. It's the kind of inn guests come back to for the hosts as much as the bath: reviewers mention warm, attentive service and home-style meals built around local mountain ingredients.
