About

This is a large day-use bathing complex right by Shimobe Onsen Station, built new and certified by the health ministry as a health-promotion onsen facility. The indoor bath blends two different springs, a hot one and a much cooler one, so you move between warmer and cooler water in the same room. There's also a walking bath, a cold plunge, and two separate outdoor baths per gender, including a reclining rotenburo. The sauna is loyly-style, steam rising off heated stones rather than dry heat, and there's a free outdoor foot bath on the deck. Shimobe Onsen has an old reputation as a healing spring, said to have soothed Takeda Shingen's battle wounds, and this facility leans into that with a health-focused restaurant, Parsley, alongside the baths. It's a clean, purpose-built spot rather than an old-school bathhouse, and locals often stop in after a workout at the attached gym.
