About

Kuriya Yasohachi (厨八十八, くりや やそはち) sits along the river in Yamanaka Onsen, with indoor and outdoor public baths on the premises. Some rooms have a private onsen on the balcony, looking out over bamboo and the water below. The name 八十八 (yasoha-chi, eighty-eight) is said to reflect the eighty-eight days it takes rice to grow, which runs through the inn's identity. The kitchen is a big part of the appeal: multi-course kaiseki dinners use local Kaga ingredients.
