About

"Grand Open-Air Bath Tanayu" renewed in July 2023. The grand open-air bath Tanayu, which spreads out in a terraced rice field style with five levels of bathtubs, was renewed and reopened in July 2023. You can enjoy the view of Beppu Bay, the city nightscape, and on clear days, even the Shikoku Sadamisaki Peninsula as borrowed scenery. The sauna area has been expanded, and Masuyu and Oto no Yu baths have been installed. Also, the adjacent outdoor swimsuit bathing facility "Aqua Garden" is open together. It is full of hot spring entertainment such as fango therapy using hot spring mud and a float healing bath where you can float in highly saline water. At night, you can see a dynamic fountain show woven with water, light, and sound.

715. Suginoi Hotel, Beppu ★★★ The facility is part of the large hotel entertainment complex Suginoi Palace, which includes shops, arcade machines, a gym, a swimming pool, an onsen, and several hotels. The onsens available for day visits can be accessed either from the hotel reception or through the main entrance of Suginoi Palace. We visited for a day trip. The admission fee ranges from 2000 to 3200 yen depending on weekends and holidays. They stamp the Beppu Onsen passport. Photos of the baths are from the internet and are approximate – we visited in the evening. The main feature of the onsen is a magnificent four-level infinity onsen with a stunning view of Beppu and the bay. The evening view is especially impressive on clear days when the moon reflects in the bay. 1. Indoor bath (first). The water is clear, temperature about 41.5°C. Comfortable to breathe inside. 2. Upper outdoor infinity bath (second). The water is clear, temperature about 40.5°C. 3. Steam onsen sauna with lighting, located behind the upper infinity bath. 4. Next outdoor infinity bath from the top (third). The water is clear, temperature about 40.5°C. 5. Penultimate outdoor infinity bath (fourth). The water is clear, temperature about 40.5°C. 6. Lower outdoor infinity bath (fifth), with areas to lie down. The water is clear, temperature about 41.5°C. 7. Barrel area: 7.1 Two round barrels. The water is clear, with the characteristic proper onsen sulfur smell. Temperature about 40°C. 7.2 Three rectangular concrete barrels. The water is clear, with the characteristic proper onsen sulfur smell. Temperature about 40°C. 8. Sauna. 9. Cold bath. A must-visit place. Superb realization of the infinity bath concept on four levels, magnificent view, sophisticated facility, part of Beppu Onsen.
