715. Suginoi Hotel, Beppu ★★★ This facility is part of the large hotel and entertainment complex Suginoi Palace, which has shops, arcade machines, a gym, a pool, onsen, and several hotels. The onsen open for day use can be accessed either from the hotel reception or through the main entrance to Suginoi Palace. We visited for a higaeri. The admission price is 2000-3200, depending on weekends and holidays. Higaeri is listed from 09:00 to 23:00. They stamp the Beppu Onsen-dō stamp rally. The bath photos are from the internet, and match only roughly, since we visited in the evening. The main feature of the onsen is the gorgeous four-level infinity onsen with a very impressive view of Beppu and the bay. The evening view, when visibility is good, is especially striking, when the moon reflects on the bay. 1. Indoor bath (first). The water is clear, temperature 41.5. It is comfortable to breathe inside. 2. Upper outdoor infinity bath (second). The water is clear, temperature 40.5. 3. Illuminated steam onsen sauna, located behind the upper infinity bath. 4. Next upper outdoor infinity bath (third). The water is clear, temperature 40.5. 5. Penultimate outdoor infinity bath (fourth). The water is clear, temperature 40.5. 6. Lower outdoor infinity bath (fifth), with areas to lie down. The water is clear, temperature 41.5. 7. Barrel area: 7.1. Two round barrels. The water is clear, with the proper onsen smell of sulfurous rot. Temperature 40. 7.2. Three rectangular concrete barrels. The water is clear, with the proper onsen smell of sulfurous rot. Temperature 40. 8. Sauna. 9. Cold bath. A must-visit place.
