About

Hotel Onoura sits at the western tip of the Chita Peninsula, looking out over Ise Bay. Its indoor bath draws on an emerald-green natural spring that rises straight from the grounds, locally nicknamed Bihada no Yu (美肌の湯), the skin-smoothing water. A separate outdoor bath looks straight out over the bay, though the hotel is upfront that this one runs on ordinary water rather than the spring. Overnight guests can also reserve a private outdoor bath by the shore, closed each year from January 6 to March 19 when strong wind pushes seawater in and cools it down. The hotel leans into seafood and Chita beef dinners as much as the baths, and day-use bathing is open in the early afternoon.
