Hotel New Awaji sits on the east coast of Awaji Island with a view across the Kitan Strait and Osaka Bay. The hotel draws from two springs: Sumoto Onsen (洲本温泉, Sumoto Onsen), a clear alkaline water, and its own Komoe Onsen (古茂江温泉, Komoe Onsen), a milky, mineral-rich water. The large communal baths swap between male and female sides overnight. On the top floor, cypress private open-air baths called Yumefusen (夢風泉) look out over the sea, and a free footbath garden on the same level is open to all guests. Some room types in the Villa Rakuen wing have their own open-air baths fed by Sumoto Onsen.
