About
Fubokaku is an old ryokan in the mountains of Aone Onsen with six baths in all, one outdoor and five indoor, several of them free hinoki-wood private baths. The large bath runs straight off the spring, and the water is clear and colorless. The inn has ties to the Date (伊達) family, and an attached hall still keeps their calligraphy and antiques. One of the private baths, the Kura-no-yu (蔵の湯), is built into an old storehouse, and it's the one guests tend to return to more than once during a stay. The place keeps a plain, old-fashioned feel rather than a polished one, and it doesn't take day visitors: the spring stays fresh for guests staying the night.
