All 24 suites here have their own private open-air onsen bath in a small garden setting, plus an indoor tub, so there's no shared bathhouse to speak of. The spring water is faintly salty and known for holding warmth in the body long after you've climbed out. Dinner and breakfast are served in private dining rooms rather than a common restaurant, and there's no day-use bathing, so this is really built for couples wanting a quiet, closed-off stay. The main building is built entirely of zelkova wood (keyaki, 欅) in the style of Kyoto's Nijo Castle (二条城), and several suites, Aoi, Yukari, Hikari, Shikibu, take their names from The Tale of Genji.
