About

Sanso Yunosato is a small, family-run ryokan in a quiet part of Hirayu Onsen. It has five baths in all: an open-air rotenburo and a cypress-scented indoor bath, each split by gender, plus a private kashikiri bath you can reserve by phone for a free 30 to 40 minute soak. There's also a low-temperature sauna for each gender. The water is a local sulfur spring. The building is old but kept clean, with fresh tatami and a friendly, informal proprietress who often works the front desk herself, so it isn't always staffed. Toilets and the washroom are shared rather than en suite. The inn is also known as a filming location for the anime Hyouka, and one of its stay plans is built around that connection.
