Akishigeyu sits alone in the rice fields outside Ebino, a no-frills day-use bath run by one person. The spring water runs undiluted and unheated straight from the source (kakenagashi, 掛け流し): it comes out faintly brownish and noticeably slippery on the skin, with a light sulfur scent. Inside there are two tubs, one hot and one cool enough to lie in. Outside, a corrugated-iron enclosure holds large barrel tubs under the open sky. The water is also approved for drinking. Akishigeyu is stop no. 19 on the Kyushu 88 Hot Springs circuit (Kyushu Hachiju-hachi Yu Meguri, 九州八十八湯めぐり).
