Tatsunokuchi Onsen Tagawa Ryusenkaku

The signature bath here is the Tanbo no Yu (田んぼの湯), a mixed open-air complex of six pools set literally in the middle of rice fields, fed by a sodium sulfate-chloride spring that turns the skin noticeably silky. The setting shifts through the seasons, ankle-deep green paddies in summer, golden stubble in autumn, and the inn has been welcoming guests to this stretch of Tatsunokuchi Onsen for some 1,400 years.
