Takasumi Onsen is a small, single-purpose day-use bathhouse in the forested mountains of Higashiyoshino (東吉野村) in Nara. The indoor bath is a fragrant hinoki (檜) cypress tub, and the outdoor rotenburo is built from rock, closed in by trees. The water is clear and faintly salty, and more than one visitor mentions it keeps you warm long after you get out. There's no restaurant or shop attached, just the baths, a small lobby with sofas and a tatami rest area, and a large parking lot.
