Sounkyo Onsen Sounkyo Kanko Hotel

The signature draw here is Utari, a sprawling mixed open-air bath (rotenburo, 露天風呂) beside the Ishikari River that claims to be one of Hokkaido's largest outdoor baths, roughly 330 square meters of natural stone with a six-meter waterfall cascading into it. Bathing suits are provided at the changing room, so families and couples can soak together. The hotel itself is older and straightforward, but the gorge setting gives the outdoor bath a genuinely dramatic backdrop.
