About

This five-room ryokan in Okuhida Onsengo skips the communal bath altogether. Instead there are four private baths split between the main building and an annex, each pairing an indoor tub with its own open-air rotenburo, eight tubs in total, free to use as often as you like. With only five groups staying a night, you rarely find one occupied. The inn calls itself a ryori ryokan (料理旅館), a cooking-focused ryokan, and its seasonal kaiseki dinner built around Hida ingredients is as much the point of a stay as the baths.
